Family Pit Bull Wakes Family and Drags 7 Month Old Baby from House Fire

Nowadays it is common for households to have a family dog. They bring people together and up lift everyone’s spirits. However, after many heart breaking news stories of dogs being left around young children and babies ending in tragedy, it is important to stay vigilant.

Some dog breeds are known to be more aggressive than others, with pit bulls being a noticeable breed that is often viewed as dangerous. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as this story proves.

Latana Chai from California, mother to 8 month old Masailah, recently went through a horrible experience that is everyone’s worst nightmare, a fire. The fire broke out in the neighbouring house around midnight on a Saturday night, June 3rd.

Latana, oblivious to the unfolding situation, was awoken by Sasha, the family pit bull who was barking emphatically and frantically scratching at the garden door.

Upon waking and hearing Sasha’s barks, she immediately knew something was wrong.

Latana said; “I heard like, a loud bang and I was like, ‘what’s going on?’ I heard Sasha crying and she kept jumping at the door. As soon as I got to the door, she runs in and starts barking,”

Latana quickly realised the flames were spreading to her own house. She then began to run upstairs to her daughters room but before she could make it pit bull Sasha had already reached baby Masailah. What she saw next left her in astonishment.

Sasha had grabbed Masailah by the diaper and dragger her to safety!

Without Sasha’s warning barks, there is no telling what could have happened.

Born just days apart, family dog Sasha and baby Masailah share a bond that has been made even tighter after this heroic event.

Pit bulls are given a bad reputation and commonly looked upon as dangerous and aggressive dogs, however, this couldn’t be further from the truth, and this story is testament to that.
